So I was thinking, besides drink driving, I should also share some tips about other types of traffic offense, after all safe driving is important not only for yourself, but also towards your family. Saw this news in the car forum and thought it was quite useful. I personally fell that we should not just focus on the places that has Traffic Police cameras shooting. After driving for many years, I am sure many of us are guilty of the following:
1. Using the handphone while driving
2.Going faster even when we reach the cross junction
3.One hand on the steering wheel instead of 2
4.Not putting on the seat belt
The bad news is all of the 4 items above can cause you to get into an accident! Not that I want to be biased, but as a lady driver, sometimes when I got into accident, I got into more panic and more accident rather than keeping calm. This is one thing that we really do not want to get into. Among the four items, point 1. and point 4. can even render you Traffic police summons. Unless you think 24 points is a lot , I suggest that when you are driving . PLEASE JUST CONCENTRATE ON DRIVING. What is that few minutes to one hour compared to the fine and the points deducted? Worse if you lose the license? Then you will have to end up squeezing the MRT or BUS and taking longer time to travel to somewhere so near.
Speeding kills and can cost your points too. Well, just to share a latest find out from one of the forum sharers. By far now, we are familiar with the “secret” camera at Lornie Road ( near the Adam Road market area) . Apparently, this one at Four Seasons Hotel in Orchard Boulevard is a new one.
FOUR SEASONS HOTEL SPEEDING TRAP
Was at Four Seasons Hotel this morning waiting for a friend from overseas, when I spotted this Traffic Police Officer on the overheadbridge setting up his camera and tripod.
But instead of facing his camera towards Wheelock Place, to face oncoming traffic from Orchard MRT (Orchard Boulevard), he positioned his camera to face the opposite direction, facing the direction of Four Seasons Hotel instead.
So now, when driving & you look up the overhead bridge to spot for TP camera, and seeing none, you speed up, only to have your REAR no. plate snapped when you drive past the overhead bridge!!!
Now I know why those TP on overheadbridges on the PIE have suddenly disappeared. They have repositioned their cameras to face the opposite direction, the rear of your car!!!
There are no signs stating the speed limit of Orchard Boulevard, so it means the speed limit on this wide 4 lane rd is 50km/h. It is very easy to exceed the legal speed limit if you are not careful.
Beware and please drive carefully and adhere to speed limits.
