In Singapore, Labour day May the 1st, Eight Motorists were arrested early Friday Morning for failing an alcohol consumption test during an island wide operation to track down drink- driving.
About 26 drivers were stopped and tested island wide. Arrested parties were aged between 25-56 years old. The highest breath Evidential Analyzer test is 69 mg of alcohol per 100 ML of breath. The TP has now new Mobile Breath Evidential Analyzer ( BEA) test centre, which is a police vehicle retrofitted with a BEA to facilitate the tests on site.
Motorists, do take note that Traffic Police usually will run surprise operations on weekends ( Fridays and Saturdays) and Public Holidays, where drivers will have a drink or two to celebrate. Do note that as long as you exceed the limit of the following Traffic Police guidelines:
a) if the driver is found with more than the legal limit of 35 microprogram (ug) of alcohol per 100 ml of breath, or
b) more than 80millimigrammes (mg) of alcohol per 100ml of blood
That being said, it is also possible for Traffic Police to charge you should they find your judgment to handle a vehicle is impaired due to alcohol ( any level). As such, advisable way is DRINK DON’T DRIVE , or DRIVE DON’T DRINK. Do not risk the chance!
That being said, the next public holiday, 17th July , Hari Raya, you know what to do 🙂 Be extra careful while on the roads.
