AYE TRAGIC ACCIDENT- Wrecked vehicles lined the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) on Monday (Dec 19) morning after an accident left one dead and four injured. A Mercedes Benz had gone against the traffic on the fast land and caused a massive accident along AYE towards Tuas before the Tuas West Road Exit.

Some of the motorists managed to get the footage of the car going against the traffic.   The graphic dashcam video of the whole incident went viral on the internet.  The SCDF came to the scene at 08:05 am.  The fire engine and also two fire bikes, a support vehicle and four ambulances came to alleviate the situation.

This accident involved 4 cars, a motobike , a bus.  A 37 year old man was trapped in the driver’s seat of the car and was extricated using the hydraullic rescue tools.  He was pronounced dead by the paramedics.  2 women and 2 men aged between 34 to 53 were taken to the National University Hospital while they were alerted.

A 53 year old male car driver was arrested for the cause of this accident.  Police Investigation are still on going .  The maximum punishment for causing death by rash act is five years’ jail and a fine.
