Many of us gets very worried when we passed by the traffic camera and sped, we often wonder if we are getting the summon or going to court. Here are some of the obvious indicators
1. There will be a very obvious flash light this is especially so in the tunnels. ( eg MCE, CTE) be very sure that you check carefully the speed limit in the tunnels, some of them have 70km/hr to follow.
2. Receive a letter from TP in 2-4 weeks time. For those impatient drivers, no choice, you have to wait for that letter. It will be sent to the car owner’s residential address.
3. Check your driver’s status online at the following link:
http://www.spf.gov.sg/epc/index.html
Nowadays Traffic Police and the Singapore Police force are so advanced that you can check for all the status online and also appeal too. The site is useful for you to check your demerit points and also read up on the latest news about traffic regulations. Your summon will also be updated inside the system about 2 weeks from the date of the offence.
Basically from personal experience, there is no faster way to know whether you have been “caught”, the shortest lead time is about 2 weeks. So in the meantime, the best thing to do is just read up more on the type of punishment you might get and prepare for the worst.
If you really have to go to court, please do not try to argue with the judge. UNLESS you are very very sure that you did not commit the offence, there is no way you will get out of the verdict. You have to face your wrong doings like a man should. The court is a serious place so do not go there and “bargain” or give grand mother stories to the judge. You might end up worse off.
