The Final Theory is the next step before you can book for the practical test. Of course, taking the short cut, I was trying to find if there are ways I can nab this test out faster than having to go to the schools.
Well after some considerations I decided to try out going private learning instead because I thought I could save some cash from it. But taking the Final Theory also requires some strategy. In the driving schools, they have actually practice books for you to try and practice first before going for the real test. For Bukit Batok Driving School, there were altogether 11 booklets. To begin with it was not easy going through all the eleven booklets. The schools do not allow you to jot down the questions and answers, making it even tougher to remember.
Basically I found the more challenging questions the 2 second, 4 second and 12 second rule very confusing. And sometimes you do not know which one is supposed to be for which situation.
Some of the questions that I found were frequent confusing:
- 2 Second rule: The basic for normal overtaking, keeping a safe following distance.
- 4 Second rule: Keeping of safe distance in adverse driving conditions.
- 12 Second rule: For overtaking hazards.
- Lane discipline: Always keep to the nearest lane after turning.
- Bend Negotiation: Accelerate a little as you are coming out of the bend but slow down and change to a lower gear before.
- The signal light should be on 3 second for indication to turn.
- Also make sure that you know well the functions of a manual car.
- Aquaplaning and Centrifugal force, know what they are.
Basically these are the main parts I find that needs to concentrate on. As you practice more, the questions will start to stick in your head and you will be more confident towards taking the test.
Do make sure that you have well enough practice before taking the evaluation if you are a student of a driving school. Try out one practice on at least 3 booklets with pass without checking the answers before going for the evaluation. After you book the test date, you can chill it on the practice but try to book the afternoon test so that on the test date itself, you can practice before going in for the real test.
Now all the systems are computerised, so on the spot you will know whether you had passed or failed. If you passed, you will be able to book the practical about one day later. You do not need to print any result slips.
Good Luck!
